UK Consumers Likely Ate Goat and Offal in Kebabs Marketed as Lamb, Report Confirms
A comprehensive study by public analysts has exposed a systemic mislabelling of 'lamb' kebabs sold across the United Kingdom. Investigators found that millions of consumers have likely purchased and eaten kebabs containing significant proportions of goat meat, animal skin, and fat, despite being marketed as solely lamb.
Analysis revealed that numerous samples of these supposedly lamb-based products contained as little as 10% sheep meat, with the remainder being a mixture of cheaper alternatives and less desirable animal by-products. This widespread deception extends to both takeaway establishments and some retail outlets.
The findings underscore a persistent issue within parts of the food supply chain, where economic interests appear to override consumer transparency and food standards. Public health officials are now tasked with addressing these fraudulent practices to ensure accurate product descriptions and consumer protection.
