UK Met Office Issues Amber Heat Warning as Temperatures Reach 35C Next Week
The Met Office has issued an amber extreme heat warning for significant parts of England and Wales, forecasting temperatures to reach 35C early next week. The alert, in effect from Monday, 15 July, through Tuesday, 16 July, covers the Midlands, East of England, South East, South West, and parts of Wales.
Forecasters anticipate temperatures will rise throughout the weekend, with Sunday expected to see highs of 30C in London. Monday and Tuesday are predicted to bring the most intense heat, potentially reaching 35C in some areas. The Met Office has indicated a 60% probability of reaching the heatwave criteria across much of England and Wales.
The extreme heat is expected to lead to widespread health impacts, particularly for vulnerable individuals, and could result in significant disruption to travel infrastructure and services. The public is advised to take precautions to mitigate risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
