Ukrainian Forces Strike Two Russian Ferries and Oil Terminal in Kerch, Crimea
Ukrainian forces launched ATACMS missiles early on Saturday morning, striking two railway ferries, the 'Avangard' and 'Conroe', operating in the Kerch Strait. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the strikes inflicted significant damage, with one ferry running aground and hindering traffic through the strait. The Kerch crossing serves as a vital artery for the Russian military, facilitating the movement of personnel, equipment, and fuel into occupied Crimea.
Simultaneously, a missile attack targeted an oil terminal in Kavkaz, Krasnodar Krai, on the Russian mainland. This facility is crucial for the trans-shipment of petroleum products to Russian forces. Ukrainian intelligence sources confirmed damage to the terminal, describing the combined operations as part of a strategy to choke off Russian logistics and further isolate Crimea.
These coordinated strikes underscore Ukraine's ongoing campaign to disrupt Russia's military infrastructure and logistics in the Black Sea region. Western diplomatic circles have consistently framed such actions as defensive responses to Russia's 2014 annexation and subsequent full-scale invasion, while Moscow characterises them as provocative acts of aggression against its territory.
