Wakefield Murder Inquiry Follows Man's Death After Dog Attack

A murder inquiry has commenced in Wakefield after a man died following a dog bite. West Yorkshire Police were called to Clifford Street at approximately 10:40 BST on Monday, 19th August, responding to reports of a serious dog attack. The victim, a 62-year-old man, was transported to hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives have since launched a murder investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death. A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Authorities are particularly keen to speak with two individuals who stopped their vehicle at the scene to assist the injured man. It is understood these potential witnesses were driving a white van, possibly a Ford Transit Custom, and rendered aid to the victim. Police believe their accounts could be crucial to the investigation and have urged them to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team immediately.
