
Wolverhampton Police Arrest Woman, 30s, After Mason Street Fire Kills Two Boys, Ages One and Three
A woman has been arrested after two children died in a house fire in Wolverhampton.
Emergency services responded to the blaze in Mason Street at approximately 20:30 BST on Friday. Firefighters retrieved two boys, aged one and three, from the property; however, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
West Midlands Police confirmed a woman in her 30s was detained on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of two children. She remains in custody.
Two other children and an adult woman had exited the house before the arrival of emergency services. They were assessed by ambulance staff and did not require hospital treatment.
Detectives have cordoned off the area to conduct an investigation into the exact circumstances of the fire. Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake described the deaths as a “truly tragic incident,” extending thoughts to those affected.
