A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in central London where a car collided with three pedestrians. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of a 29-year-old female driver on Sunday morning.
Emergency services responded to Argyll Street at approximately 04:30 BST. A 30-year-old woman was taken to hospital and is currently in critical condition. A man in his 50s suffered life-changing injuries and also received hospital treatment. A third woman, in her 30s, sustained minor injuries.
The driver was arrested at the scene on multiple charges, including attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and drink driving. Authorities have stated that the incident, which occurred near the London Palladium theatre, is not being investigated as terrorism-related.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell has appealed for witnesses, noting that local venues were still open at the time. "We believe a number of people will have seen what happened," she stated, urging anyone with information, regardless of perceived significance, to come forward.
