Worcester Man's Seven-Month NHS Bed Confinement Contributed to Death, Inquest Rules
Tim Hull, 69, of Worcester, died in part due to being confined to a bed that was too small for him for seven months, a coroner has ruled. The inquest heard that Mr Hull, who weighed 19 stone (120kg), was unable to move freely in the bed, which exacerbated his underlying health conditions.
Mr Hull's immobility led to a decline in his overall health, contributing to his death. The coroner highlighted that the lack of appropriate equipment directly impacted his care and mobility during his hospital stay. This finding underscores systemic issues within healthcare provision for patients requiring specialised equipment.
