Xbox Implements 15-Hour Monthly Limit on Game Pass Cloud Gaming for Subscribers
Xbox has imposed a 15-hour monthly cap on cloud gaming for its Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The alteration, which restricts access to titles played via streaming rather than direct download, was conveyed to users through an email notification this week.
The company has justified the new limitation by pointing to increased operational expenditures associated with maintaining its cloud gaming infrastructure. Xbox stated that this adjustment would enable it to continue investing in the performance and overall reliability of the service.
While the change represents a significant curtailment for heavy users of the cloud streaming feature, it does not affect the broader Game Pass subscription, which provides access to a large library of downloadable games. The move reflects a pragmatic response to economic pressures within the technology sector, prioritising financial sustainability over unlimited access for a segment of its subscriber base.
