UK Unemployment Rate Unexpectedly Drops to 4.9% in February as Fewer Students Seek Work
The UK's unemployment rate unexpectedly fell to 4.9% in the three months to February, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This decline was primarily attributed to an increase in economic inactivity, with fewer students actively seeking employment while studying. Wage growth slowed, yet outpaced inflation, while job vacancies reached a five-year low as the impact of the US-Israeli war with Iran began to surface.
