A9 Motorway Closed Near Dunkeld After Lorry Incinerates, Police Confirm Day-Long Disruption

The A9 motorway has been closed in both directions following a significant lorry fire south of Dunkeld. Emergency services were alerted to the vehicle blaze at approximately 06:21. Three fire engines are currently attending the scene, and no injuries have been reported.

Images from the site depict the lorry fully engulfed in flames, with substantial black smoke plumes rising into the sky. Police Scotland has confirmed the road closure and instituted diversions, urging motorists to avoid the area.

Eyewitness Eucharia Amarachi Innocent-Anunobi, who reported being held on a bus near the incident since around 06:50, stated that police officers informed passengers the road would be closed for the entire day due to the severity of the damage. Her bus was subsequently diverted through Bankfoot, where heavy traffic was observed.
