Cardiff-headquartered Admiral Group has outlined a proposal to cut 500 jobs within its UK insurance business. The proposed redundancies are expected to affect around five percent of the company's total workforce in the United Kingdom.

Admiral, which currently employs over 7,500 staff in the UK, indicated that the decision is a consequence of organisational restructuring rather than economic downturn or financial underperformance. The company reported a substantial pre-tax profit of £361.6 million for 2023, marking a 23% increase from the previous year's figures.

The affected employees will primarily be those involved in managing customer claims. Admiral has confirmed that it will engage in a consultation process with the staff impacted by these changes. The insurer's statements suggest that the adjustments are intended to streamline operations and enhance efficiency within its UK division.
