Home Office Orders Urgent Review After Two Migrant Boats Land on UK Shores

The Home Office has initiated an urgent review after two migrant boats successfully reached UK shores in Kent, with authorities apprehending twenty-six individuals. The landings occurred near Folkestone and Dover, with the first vessel making landfall around 07:00 BST and the second shortly thereafter.

Border Force and Kent Police were deployed to the incidents. The initial landing involved a boat that approached the shore near the Folkestone and Hythe district. All occupants were detained by immigration enforcement officials.

Shortly after, another vessel was observed nearing the coast near Dover, leading to further detentions. While twenty-six people are confirmed to be in custody, officials have not indicated whether they are actively searching for other potential arrivals who may have evaded initial detection. The focus of the Home Office review will be on the operational circumstances that allowed these vessels to reach the coast undetected at sea.
