Amazon Prime Video Secures Exclusive Six-Year Global Streaming Rights for Emmy Awards
The Emmy Awards, America’s premier television accolades, will transition to an exclusive global streaming format on Amazon Prime Video for the next six years. This move concludes a long-standing tradition of the gala being broadcast on a rotating basis across the four major US networks: ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC.
Under the new agreement, Amazon Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios will assume all distribution responsibilities for the Emmys worldwide. This exclusive arrangement begins with the 2024 ceremony, which will be accessible live to Prime Video subscribers globally.
This development follows a trend of major entertainment events migrating to streaming platforms, reflecting the changing landscape of media consumption. While specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, such exclusive rights packages often involve substantial investment, indicative of the strategic value placed on prestige live events by streaming giants.
