Amber Heat Health Alert Issued for Midlands, Eastern, and South-East England
Forecasters predict a significant rise in temperatures across the UK, peaking over the bank holiday period. London and the south-east could see temperatures reach 30 degrees Celsius, with widespread highs of 27-28 degrees expected across central and southern England.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has activated an amber heat-health alert for the Midlands, eastern England, and the south-east. This alert level indicates a heightened risk to health, particularly for vulnerable individuals, and advises caution.
While conditions are expected to remain dry and sunny for most, some areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland may experience cloudier skies and a chance of light rain. Cooler, fresher air is anticipated to arrive by Tuesday, offering some relief from the heatwave conditions.
