Ayodhya's Ram Temple Trust Overhauls Board Following Allegations of Donation Theft
The trust responsible for the newly consecrated Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, has undertaken a comprehensive overhaul of its managerial structure. This decision follows persistent allegations concerning the systematic theft of substantial donations, including cash, valuable jewellery, gold, and silver, offered by worshippers at the prominent Hindu pilgrimage site.
Extensive Security Review Underway
In response to the scandal, the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has commissioned an extensive security review. This investigation aims to identify vulnerabilities and implement robust measures to prevent future pilferage of offerings. The temple, inaugurated in January, has attracted millions of devotees, generating a significant influx of donations.
While no arrests or charges have yet been publicly announced, the internal shake-up signals the trust's acknowledgement of serious security and accountability failures. The allegations undermine public confidence in the management of one of India's most high-profile religious institutions, recently the subject of immense political and cultural capital investment.
