Belmarsh Inmate Simon Levy Denies Stabbing Prison Guard With Pen
Belmarsh prisoner Simon Levy has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent. The charges stem from an alleged attack on a prison officer at the high-security facility in February.
The prosecution contends that Mr Levy, 36, used a pen to stab the officer in the neck. Following this, it is alleged he attempted to strangle the guard. The officer sustained injuries requiring medical attention after the incident at the south-east London prison.
Mr Levy appeared via video link from Belmarsh for the plea hearing. He is scheduled to face trial at Woolwich Crown Court on 13th January.
