
Belmarsh Prisoners Steven Sansom, Adam Watson Charged Over Attack on Sara Sharif's Father
Two prisoners, Steven Sansom and Adam Watson, face charges following an alleged assault on Urfan Sharif, father of Sara Sharif, inside Belmarsh Prison.
Sansom, 47, and Watson, 39, were charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and a further count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. Additionally, Sansom faces a charge of possession of a weapon in prison.
The incident, which occurred on 28th April, reportedly left Mr Sharif, 42, with significant facial injuries. Paramedics were called to the maximum-security facility, and he received hospital treatment before being returned to custody.
Mr Sharif is currently remanded on suspicion of murdering his 10-year-old daughter, Sara Sharif, whose body was discovered at her Woking home in August 2023. He was arrested alongside his partner, Beinash Batool, and his brother, Faisal Shahzad Malik, after returning to the UK from Pakistan.
All three are awaiting trial, which is scheduled for autumn 2024, in connection with Sara Sharif’s death. Sansom and Watson are due to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court on 25th June.
