Bristol Central MP Carla Denyer Takes Leave for Burnout Recovery
Carla Denyer, the Member of Parliament for Bristol Central, has announced she will be taking an absence of "several weeks" to recover from health issues related to burnout. The decision was made following consultation with her doctor regarding persistent health problems exacerbated by the demanding nature of her work.
Denyer, who previously served as co-leader of the Green Party from 2021 to 2025 and was elected to Bristol Central in the 2024 general election, stated that burnout, if left unmanaged, can worsen and increase the risk of long-term health complications. She expressed hope that by openly discussing her experiences, she could help to destigmatise the condition, which she noted is common among individuals in high-stress, people-facing professions.
Her constituency office will maintain normal operations throughout her period of leave.
