British Airways Mayday Flight Passenger Describes Terrifying Heathrow Emergency Landing

Edward Killiwick, a passenger on British Airways flight BA296 from Washington DC to London Heathrow, detailed the alarming moments during the aircraft's emergency landing. The flight, which occurred on 9 May, declared a Mayday after experiencing an issue with its landing gear.

Mr Killiwick described a tense atmosphere in the cabin, with flight attendants repeatedly instructing passengers to adopt the brace position. He recounted hearing a fellow passenger shout, "I don't want to die," a sentiment he stated was echoed by others in the cabin, including himself, as the aircraft prepared for impact.

The Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner landed safely at Heathrow, where it was met by emergency services. A British Airways spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft landed without incident and that engineers were examining the aircraft. The airline apologised for any distress caused.
