A mother and her 10-month-old daughter have been found dead in rural British Columbia, with Canadian authorities indicating a suspected grizzly bear attack as the cause. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) discovered the bodies near the remote community of Fort St. John, approximately 1,200 kilometres (745 miles) northeast of Vancouver.
The deceased were identified as 37-year-old Area and her infant daughter, who had reportedly been out for a walk. A family member located the bodies and contacted emergency services. Investigators have stated that evidence at the scene points to animal involvement in their deaths. This incident marks a rare occurrence, as fatal grizzly bear attacks are uncommon in the region.
