
Briton Malcolm Timbrell Survives Spanish Wildfire, Wife and Friends Perish Fleeing Blaze
A British man, Malcolm Timbrell, has detailed his survival during a deadly wildfire that engulfed his village in Spain. Mr Timbrell sought refuge in his car as the flames consumed his surroundings, but his wife, Susan, and two friends, Ron and Christine Clitheroe, are believed to have perished while attempting to flee the inferno on foot.
The fire, which reportedly advanced at speed, forced residents to evacuate rapidly. Mr Timbrell described the harrowing experience of the fire reaching his vehicle, stating he was “burnt but not badly”. His wife and their friends were last seen trying to outrun the approaching blaze, a desperate effort that ultimately proved fatal.
Authorities have confirmed multiple fatalities from the wildfires, which have ravaged parts of the region, destroying homes and displacing numerous individuals. Investigations into the precise cause and rapid spread of the fires are ongoing, alongside efforts to contain the remaining blazes and assess the full extent of the damage.
