Centenarian Phillip Ormerod Dies After Pub Altercation, Inquest Reveals

Phillip Ormerod, a 102-year-old man suffering from dementia, passed away in hospital after being pushed during an altercation at the Hare and Hounds pub in Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire. An inquest into his death heard that Mr Ormerod was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol in a critical condition following the incident on 30 March, and died a week later on 6 April.

The senior coroner for Avon, Dr Peter Harrowing, was informed that Mr Ormerod had been enjoying a drink at the pub when he was involved in an incident with another individual. This resulted in him being pushed. The court was told that a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains ongoing, with a suspect having been arrested and subsequently released under investigation.

A post-mortem examination, conducted by Dr Seth Pinches, identified a head injury as the provisional cause of death. The coroner adjourned the inquest to a later date, pending the outcome of the police inquiry. The individual arrested in connection with Mr Ormerod's death has not been publicly identified by the authorities.
