Charlotte Church's Forest School in Wales Faces Closure Due to Planning Permission Absence
A forest school founded by musician Charlotte Church and her husband Jonathan Powell in Dinas Powys, Vale of Glamorgan, faces an enforcement notice from local authorities due to the absence of required planning permission. The Awen Project, located on a 47-acre former pig farm, has operated as an independent school since 2019, catering to approximately 30 pupils aged between three and 12.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council confirmed it is investigating the unauthorised change of use of the land. Church and Powell acquired the property for £1.5 million in 2021, transforming it into a school that integrates outdoor learning with traditional educational elements. The curriculum reportedly includes activities such as foraging, den building, and ecological studies, alongside standard subjects.
