Cumbria's police, fire, and crime panel has initiated a review into Commissioner Colin Sutton's extensive 'true crime' theatre tour. Mr Sutton, a former Metropolitan Police detective, is scheduled to perform 127 dates between January and November, recounting details from cases such as the investigation into Levi Bellfield.

The panel's oversight committee convened to assess the propriety of Mr Sutton's simultaneous role as a public servant and a commercial entertainer. Concerns have been raised regarding potential conflicts of interest, the use of sensitive case material for profit, and the perception of a police commissioner engaged in such extensive private enterprise.

A spokesperson for the panel confirmed that the review is underway to determine if the tour aligns with the ethical guidelines and public responsibilities associated with the office of Police, Fire, and Crime Commissioner.
