College Lecturer Sophie Hynd Pleads Guilty to Double Fatal Drink-Drive Crash in Fife

A college lecturer has pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of two individuals in a drink-driving collision in Cluny, Fife, last December. Sophie Hynd, 33, admitted to charges of causing death by dangerous driving at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Ms Hynd was driving a white Volkswagen Scirocco when she collided with a Ford Fiesta carrying Jatinder Kaur, 48, and Satwant Singh, 64, on the A915 near Cluny. Both Ms Kaur and Mr Singh died at the scene from their injuries.

The court heard that Ms Hynd was found to be over the legal alcohol limit at the time of the crash. Following the admission of guilt, sentencing has been deferred to a later date to allow for the preparation of background reports. Ms Hynd remains on bail.
