Former Britain First Leader Arrested at Manchester Airport Over HMO Identification Campaign
Ashlea Simon, a former leader of the far-right group Britain First, has been arrested by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) at Manchester Airport. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged attacks on Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in the region.
Simon stated her arrest was directly linked to her public identification of HMOs. For months, she has maintained an active online presence, posting videos where she identifies specific properties and alleges them to be HMOs, often implying they house asylum seekers or immigrants.
A GMP spokesperson confirmed that a 35-year-old woman was detained at Manchester Airport on suspicion of malicious communications and conspiring to commit a public nuisance. She has since been released on bail.
This development follows a pattern of heightened activity by anti-immigrant groups in the UK, frequently targeting properties perceived to house asylum seekers. Such campaigns often precede incidents of vandalism or more serious disturbances, drawing a clear link between online incitement and real-world actions.
