Former Cambridge Professor Jason Arday Found Deceased After Plagiarism Allegations Emerge

Jason Arday, who held a professorship at the University of Cambridge, was discovered deceased in London on Friday. His family has conveyed their deep distress, stating they are "in shock to have lost this amazing father, partner, brother, uncle and son."

Mr Arday’s death comes after a period of intense public attention surrounding his academic integrity. Several of his publications, including his PhD thesis, have been subject to scrutiny following claims of unacknowledged borrowing of text. Cambridge University confirmed in February that it was investigating allegations relating to his earlier work at other institutions. Similarly, the University of Glasgow, where Mr Arday was also previously employed, acknowledged it was reviewing concerns about his PhD thesis, completed at Liverpool John Moores University in 2016.

The academic, known for his research in race, inequality, and education, had taken up a position at the University of Roehampton in January, prior to these allegations surfacing publicly. Previously, Mr Arday had gained considerable media attention for becoming one of the youngest black professors in the UK.
