Four Civilians Killed as Pakistan Launches Cross-Border Strikes into Afghanistan

Four civilians were reportedly killed in Pakistani military strikes inside Afghanistan, the Taliban administration confirmed. The operations, which Pakistan stated were “strictly limited to identified military objectives”, targeted alleged militant hideouts in the Khost and Paktika provinces.

Islamabad claimed the strikes were a response to a recent assault on its security forces, which it attributed to militants operating from Afghan soil. The cross-border action underscores the persistent tensions between the two nations, with Pakistan frequently accusing the Taliban government of failing to control militant groups along their shared frontier.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry asserted its right to defend its citizens, a justification often invoked for interventions that invariably inflict civilian casualties. This escalation further destabilises a region already reeling from decades of conflict, with local populations bearing the brunt of such retaliatory actions.
