Kelcie Reed Admits Culpability for XL Bully Attack Killing Cousin Morgan Dorsett in Bristol
Kelcie Reed, 24, of Lawrence Weston, has entered a guilty plea at Bristol Crown Court for being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, resulting in the death of Morgan Dorsett. The incident, which occurred on 26 February 2025, involved an XL bully named Prince, which subsequently attacked and killed Ms Dorsett, 19, from Shrewsbury, at a Bishopsworth flat.
Ms Reed was granted bail ahead of her sentencing, scheduled for 9 July. Judge Martin Picton informed Ms Reed's barrister that despite the bail, there was a "strong likelihood of immediate custody on the next occasion." Bail conditions stipulate that Ms Reed is prohibited from owning or controlling any dog.
Police confirmed that the dog, Prince, was sedated at the scene on Cobhorn Drive and later euthanised. Ms Dorsett succumbed to her injuries at the scene, with a post-mortem examination concluding the cause of death as bites to the neck and face. A man in his 20s, also arrested in connection with the fatality, was released without further action.
