Kent Police Investigate Daniel Thomas After Dinghy Slashed in Dover Harbour
Kent Police have initiated an investigation into anti-migrant activist Daniel Thomas, known to his supporters as Danny Tommo, after he was filmed slashing an inflatable dinghy in Dover Harbour. The incident, livestreamed on Monday, shows Thomas approaching the vessel, which appeared to be an empty small boat, and using a knife to puncture it. Following the event, Thomas was questioned under caution by officers.
A spokesperson for Kent Police confirmed their awareness of the video circulating online and stated that inquiries were ongoing. The force clarified that an individual was interviewed under caution in connection with the incident, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
Thomas, a prominent figure in anti-migrant activism, has previously faced legal consequences. In December 2021, he received a suspended sentence for public order offences stemming from an anti-migrant protest in Dover in September 2020. This earlier conviction involved violent disorder and resulted in a two-year suspended prison sentence, alongside a requirement to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and pay £2,000 in costs.
The latest incident in Dover Harbour underscores the contentious atmosphere surrounding migration issues in the UK, particularly concerning small boat crossings.
