Knifepoint Hijackers Pursued By Police After Stealing London Bus
A London bus was hijacked in Clapham early on Saturday morning, with its driver held at knifepoint during a police pursuit through the capital's streets. The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers were called to reports of a bus theft on Clapham Road, SW9, at approximately 01:25 BST.
Upon arrival, two suspects had reportedly boarded the bus and threatened the driver with a knife. All passengers were allowed to disembark from the vehicle unharmed. However, the driver was compelled to remain on board as the suspects drove the bus away.
Police units pursued the hijacked bus through several south London districts, including Brixton and Streatham. The pursuit concluded in Crystal Palace, SE19, where the bus was eventually stopped. The two suspects were arrested at the scene on suspicion of kidnap and robbery.
The driver, while uninjured, is receiving support following the ordeal. Detectives have initiated an investigation into the incident, which saw a major public transport vehicle commandeered and used in a dangerous pursuit across a significant portion of the city.
