Six Rescued After Yacht Entangled in Fish Farm Off Kilchoan, West Scotland
Six individuals were safely brought ashore by the coastguard early this morning following an incident involving their yacht near Kilchoan, on Scotland's west coast. The vessel, undertaking a journey from Scotland to Portugal, became entangled in the mooring lines of a local fish farm.
Belfast Coastguard received a distress call from the yacht, reporting its predicament. A helicopter from Prestwick was dispatched, along with lifeboat crews from Tobermory and Mallaig, to assist the stricken craft. The operation involved meticulous work to free the yacht from the complex aquaculture infrastructure without further damage.
All six persons aboard the yacht were recovered without injury. The incident underscores the potential hazards faced by mariners navigating coastal waters, particularly in areas with extensive commercial aquaculture operations.
