Kyiv Under Missile Barrage: Russia Strikes Capital for Second Time This Week, Killing Ten
Kyiv experienced a renewed Russian missile assault, the second such bombardment within a week, which claimed at least ten lives and injured 46 individuals, amongst them five children. Ukraine's air force reported that air defence systems successfully intercepted the majority of the incoming missiles.
Major General Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, stated that Russia launched a combination of cruise missiles, including Kh-101, Kh-555, and Kh-55, as well as Iskander-M ballistic missiles. These were reportedly fired from both Tu-95MS strategic bombers and ground-based platforms.
The attacks caused damage to critical infrastructure in the Dnieper district, according to Ukrainian officials. Civilian areas were also impacted, leading to the reported casualties and injuries. This latest assault follows earlier strikes that targeted energy facilities, underscoring the ongoing campaign against Ukrainian urban centres and essential services.
