Lily Hooper's Body Discovered in Australian Bush Following Eight-Day Search Operation
The body of missing teenager Lily Hooper was located in the rugged Australian bush, concluding an eight-day search operation. Police confirmed her death shortly after state premier Steven Miles erroneously announced she had been found alive.
Ms Hooper, 15, was last seen on 9 June near her family home in the Mount Glorious area, approximately 25 miles north-west of Brisbane. Her disappearance prompted a significant search effort involving police, State Emergency Service personnel, and members of the public.
Premier Miles issued a public apology for his incorrect announcement, stating he had received information from Queensland Police that was subsequently proven false. He acknowledged the distress caused to Ms Hooper's family and the public by the error.
Queensland Police Superintendent Mark White confirmed the discovery of Ms Hooper's body, indicating that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
