Mangione Pleads Guilty to Stalking and Killing Healthcare CEO Thompson in Manhattan

Raoul Mangione, 28, has admitted to the killing of healthcare CEO Matthew Thompson in Manhattan. Appearing in court, Mangione pleaded guilty to federal charges of stalking resulting in death, a crime carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a mandatory minimum of 20 years.

During the proceedings, Mangione explicitly stated, "I shot Mr Thompson in Manhattan and he died." This confession came as part of his plea agreement, which was entered before US District Judge Jed Rakoff.

Thompson, 49, was discovered dead in his Manhattan residence in October of the previous year. Law enforcement officials subsequently identified Mangione as the primary suspect. The case has drawn considerable attention due to the high profile of the victim and the nature of the charges.
