Lily Hooper's Body Recovered from Australian National Park After Eight-Day Search
The body of Lily Hooper, 18, was airlifted from Morton National Park in the Southern Highlands after an extensive eight-day search concluded. Ms Hooper had been missing since 15 October, prompting a significant recovery effort involving emergency services.
Authorities confirmed the recovery of Ms Hooper's remains on 23 October. The operation followed a previous communication error where officials erroneously stated she had been found alive. New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Smith later apologised for this misinformation, attributing it to a misunderstanding between search teams.
The search for Ms Hooper began after her car was discovered near a walking trail within the national park. Her family had been notified of the initial incorrect report, adding further distress to the prolonged search for the teenager.
