Loud Music on English Buses, Trains to Incur £100 Fines for Antisocial Conduct
New regulations targeting antisocial behaviour on public transport in England will enable fines of up to £100 for individuals playing loud music on buses. This initiative forms part of a broader push to improve passenger experience and reduce disturbances across the transport network.
Complementing the bus enforcement, a national campaign is also being rolled out across the rail network. This campaign, operating under the slogan "share the carriage, not the noise," aims to encourage train passengers to be more considerate of fellow travellers. The focus is on minimising noise pollution from personal devices, an issue frequently cited in passenger complaints.
These measures reflect an attempt by authorities to directly address persistent low-level antisocial conduct that impacts the daily commute for many. The introduction of specific financial penalties for loud music on buses provides a clear deterrent, while the rail campaign seeks to foster a culture of shared responsibility and respect in public spaces.
