Roberto Mancini has accepted the role of Italy manager for the second time, a swift resolution to the national team's leadership vacuum. The announcement comes less than 24 hours after former midfielder Andrea Pirlo publicly ruled himself out of contention for the position, citing other commitments.

Mancini's return also follows the resignation of Paolo Maldini from his post as technical director. Maldini's departure, alongside Pirlo's refusal, had created immediate uncertainty within the Italian football federation.
