Metropolitan Police Investigate Officers for Sleeping on Duty at Windsor Castle
The Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) has initiated an urgent investigation into several officers responsible for protective duties at Windsor Castle in Berkshire. The inquiry follows accusations that these officers were found sleeping whilst on duty and left their designated posts unattended.
A spokesperson for the force stated that “The alleged behaviour falls below the high standards expected of officers, particularly in frontline protective roles.” The DPS is currently assessing whether the officers under investigation should be placed on restricted duties, with a decision anticipated by the close of next week.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been informed of the matter. After reviewing the case, the IOPC concluded that the investigation would be handled internally by the Metropolitan Police.
