Metropolitan Police Launch Murder Investigation After Cyclist Dies in Moped Collision

A murder investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan Police after a 28-year-old e-bike cyclist died following a collision in Newham, East London. Detectives believe the moped involved had been actively pursuing the cyclist moments before the fatal incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Abbey Road, near the junction with High Street, at approximately 16:35 GMT on Tuesday. The London Ambulance Service attended, but the cyclist was pronounced dead at the location.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the precise cause of death. The victim's next of kin have been informed, though formal identification is yet to take place. Police are urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward to assist the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
