Nissan Jukes Targeted as 11 Vehicles Stolen in One County in 24 Hours

Durham Constabulary has reported a significant surge in Nissan Juke thefts, with eleven vehicles taken across the county within a 24-hour period. The incidents occurred in areas including Seaham, Peterlee, Murton, Easington, Spennymoor, Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland, and Shildon.

Security consultant Michael Fraser highlighted the profitability of these thefts, noting that Nissan Jukes possess "valuable spare parts" that command high prices on the black market. He also claimed the vehicles are considered "easy to steal" by organised criminal networks.

Authorities have urged Nissan Juke owners to implement enhanced security measures. Recommendations include parking in well-lit areas, considering additional immobilisers or steering wheel locks, and ensuring key fobs are stored in signal-blocking pouches to prevent relay attacks.
