North Northants Council Leader Pledges Full Co-operation with Corby Water Contamination Inquiry
North Northamptonshire Council's leader, Martin Griffiths, has publicly committed to a comprehensive and transparent public inquiry into the toxic waste scandal in Corby. Mr Griffiths, of Reform-UK, stated unequivocally that the council 'has nothing to hide' regarding the historical issues that have plagued the area.
The inquiry will scrutinise the handling and impact of toxic waste from the former British Steel plant in Corby. Concerns have long been raised about a cluster of alleged birth defects in children whose parents lived in the town during the period when hazardous materials were processed and disposed of.
This move follows decades of community activism and legal battles by families seeking accountability and answers for the health problems they attribute to industrial contamination. The council's pledge of full co-operation indicates a recognition of the significant public interest and the need for a thorough examination of past practices and their consequences.
