Nottinghamshire Taxi Driver Delivers Customer Using Counterfeit Currency Directly to Police
A taxi driver in Nottinghamshire has been commended by local police for a decisive action after receiving a fake £20 note from a passenger. The driver, upon realising the currency was counterfeit, did not confront the individual but instead drove them directly to a police station in Nottingham.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, leading to an immediate arrest. Police Constable Adam Fuller praised the driver's composure and quick thinking, describing it as a "fantastic piece of work". The driver maintained a calm demeanour throughout the journey, ensuring the suspect remained unaware of the impending police encounter until arriving at the station.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of tendering counterfeit currency. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
