October Anticipated For Air India Crash Investigation Report on 1985 Disaster
The investigation into the 1985 Air India Flight 182 bombing is set to conclude by October, according to officials. The attack, which saw a bomb detonate on a Boeing 747 named 'Kanishka' en route from Montreal to Delhi, resulted in the deaths of 260 individuals. Among the deceased were 241 passengers and 19 crew members; only one passenger survived the explosion.
This incident remains one of the most devastating acts of aviation terrorism in history, predating the 11 September 2001 attacks in its scale of loss of life from a single aviation event. The protracted inquiry has spanned decades, with investigators meticulously analysing evidence to establish the full circumstances of the bombing and hold those responsible to account. The forthcoming report is expected to detail the findings and potentially shed further light on the complex geopolitical motivations behind the attack.
