Over Two Dozen Democrats Already Preparing 2028 Presidential Bids, Obama Aide Claims
A former senior aide to Barack Obama has revealed that upwards of two dozen Democrats are already laying the groundwork for a potential presidential campaign in 2028. Jim Messina, who managed Obama's 2012 re-election effort, indicated that he has engaged with “over two dozen campaigns” following the party's unexpected strong performance in the recent midterm elections.
Messina detailed that several of these prospective candidates have advanced beyond mere contemplation, commencing the recruitment of staff. This early manoeuvring underscores the intense competition within the Democratic Party for future leadership, despite the current administration's ongoing term. The perceived weakness of Republican opposition in recent electoral cycles may be contributing to this accelerated internal positioning.
