Pakistan Apprehends Faheem Akram, Sought by US for $126 Million Postal Fraud
Pakistani authorities have confirmed the arrest of Faheem Akram, who faces charges in the United States related to a significant postal fraud operation. US federal prosecutors allege Akram was behind a scheme that defrauded the US Postal Service of approximately $126 million.
Akram is accused of producing and distributing more than five million fraudulent postage labels. These labels were reportedly sold at a fixed price of $2 each, enabling customers to mail packages across the United States without valid postage.
The apprehension of Akram follows a protracted international pursuit. The US Justice Department has previously indicated its commitment to prosecuting individuals who undermine essential public services and engage in large-scale financial deception. This arrest marks a notable development in efforts to tackle cross-border white-collar crime, particularly those impacting state infrastructure.
