Palantir Defends NHS Data Usage Amidst Parliamentary Scrutiny
Palantir Addresses NHS Data Concerns
Palantir, the US-headquartered analytics firm, has defended its role in managing NHS data amidst increasing parliamentary scrutiny. Louis Mosley, Palantir's UK Executive Vice-Chair, has affirmed the company's dedication to patient benefit and robust data security protocols.
Concerns have been articulated by MPs across various political parties, focusing on potential data security risks, the implications of foreign ownership, and the firm's perceived values. These worries follow guidance issued to NHS England trusts that promotes the use of Palantir's software for streamlining operations.
Mosley clarified that Palantir's platform serves as a secure operating system for NHS data, enabling better organisation and utilisation of existing information. He emphasised that the company does not own, sell, or have direct access to patient data. The platform's function is to facilitate the NHS's own data management, with access controlled solely by the health service.
