Pentre One-Bedroom Cottage, 7.5ft Wide, Sells for £45,000 at Auction
A distinctive property in Pentre, Rhondda Cynon Taf, known for its minimal width, has sold for GBP#45,000. The one-bedroom cottage, which measures a mere 7.5ft (2.2m) at its widest point, exceeded its initial guide price of GBP#23,000, drawing 35 competitive bids during the auction.
The property on Llewellyn Street features a hallway, a fitted bathroom, a kitchen, UPVC double glazing, a garage, and a garden, despite its slender dimensions. This sale highlights continued market interest in unconventional properties within the region.
For comparison, other notably narrow properties exist across the UK. Conwy boasts a 16th-century house on its quayside, reportedly Britain's smallest, at just 6ft (1.8m) wide and 10ft (3m) high. It was deemed uninhabitable in 1900. In London, a Victorian house in Shepherd's Bush, measuring 1.6m wide, is cited as England's narrowest residence.
