Relatives of those victimised by funeral director Robert Bush have voiced their dismay following his 20-year imprisonment, asserting the sentence is inadequate given the immense distress and desecration caused. Bush, 45, received a 20-year term for offences encompassing fraud, preventing lawful burials, and cremation without a licence.

His egregious conduct included keeping unburied bodies at his premises and distributing ashes that did not belong to the deceased, a discovery that has caused enduring agony for numerous families. One aggrieved relative stated, "Twenty years is nowhere near long enough for the horror he inflicted."

Bush’s operations involved an illicit crematorium and a general disregard for professional and ethical standards, profoundly betraying the trust placed in him during periods of vulnerability. The police investigation revealed a pattern of deception and negligence that spanned years, impacting over 30 families directly.
