Rapper Offset Hospitalised After Florida Shooting Incident
Kiari Kendrell Cephus, known professionally as Offset, is currently recovering in hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood casino in Florida. The 34-year-old rapper's spokesperson confirmed he is in a stable condition and under close medical observation following the incident, which occurred at a valet area after 19:00 on Monday.
Investigation Underway
The Seminole Police Department has detained two individuals in connection with the shooting. Among those is US rapper Lil TJay, real name Tione Jayden Merritt, who has been charged with disorderly conduct. Police sources indicate the injuries sustained by Offset are non-life-threatening. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities actively seeking to identify additional persons involved.
Offset rose to prominence as part of the influential hip-hop trio Migos, alongside Quavo and Takeoff. The group achieved significant success with hits like 'Versace' and 'Bad and Boujee'. Following the trio's split in early 2022, Offset embarked on a solo career. Tragically, his former bandmate Takeoff was shot and killed in November 2022 in Houston, Texas.
BBC Newsbeat has made attempts to contact Lil TJay's representatives for comment regarding the incident.
